Throughout my time in the University Honors Program, I have heard the words 'Global Citizen Scholar' more time than I can count. For this reason, I have done a good amount of reflecting on what it means to me, and I have finally come to a conclusion. Being a global citizen scholar means that you not only learn in a regular classroom, but you also learn about your community. You engage with your community and learn more about it. This could something small, like volunteering at an organization downtown or even just spending the day getting to know your community. This could also mean something much greater, such as traveling abroad or going on service trip to a country in Africa. One thing that I love about this word is that it can mean so many different things to so many different people. Thankfully, the University Honors Program had me take a quiz to find out my strengths are. The results both confused and excited me. Most importantly, they taught me how I should use them to broaden my horizons and to strengthen the organizations I am involved in to better both myself and others. These strengths made me think more about the contribution I would like to make to my surrounding environment. First, it made me think about how I would like to contribute to UC. I love UC, so I would like to contribute to UC by just being involved with as many organizations as possible and sharing my experience with others. Next, it made me think about my involvement within my sorority. I think it is such a great organization, and I hope to be more involved with it as I grow in the sorority. I am unsure as of now if this is applying for an executive position or just being involved with the philanthropy events or being a mentor for the younger students. Lastly, it made me think about my involvement with my community and family. I would like to join more organizations, not only on UC's campus but through organizations in the Cincinnati community. I am not sure of all the contributions I want to make as of now, but I know that I am definitely excited to find out soon!
